I've always wanted to try CCV, but for whatever reasons, never seemed to get there. My son and I have a Blackbeard's trip already booked for next summer, but I'm thinking the next big trip after that will be CCV.

As for letting someone else clean my gear...no thanks. I'm kinda picky about my gear, and like to take care of it myself. As for the communal rinse tanks, I get kinda tickled at those that curl their noses up at the thought of using their own spit for defog, only to then toss their gear in a communal rinse tank. Even with operators I like a lot, I'll bypass the tanks and just rinse my gear with a hose if available, or in the shower back at the room.

If they're using rinse tanks, fuggedaboudit. No touchee.
ditto..... I take mask, reg, and camera gear back to room along with my wetsuit and booties. All go into the shower with me, then air dry on balcony! My BC I usually dip in rinse tank, then rinse off with shower at dock.
I was always shocked at the slime and gunk floating in rinse tanks in Cozumel. Gag....
Good point, I inadvertently left my mask off that list. That always comes back with me, too. Not that it's likely to be damaged, but it's quite up close and personal, so I want it well cared for, plus it's prescription so an accident ruins a dive trip for me (and costs a lot of money). Camera is a given, as well... that gets cleaned by no one else.

CCV beats the heck out of anywhere we have EVER been, no kidding. It is just like a liveaboard in many respects, only no sleeping on a boat. If you are considering going there, check out their website and the videos there. And also, be sure to book early as with only 26 rooms, they book up quickly, especially spring.

sorry for the thread hijack!

Yeah, I've stared longingly at their site quite a few times. It's really stupid that I haven't been yet, as I've been wanting to go there ever since I saw an ad for them in a mag back in '84 or '85...just seems like one thing or another got in the way...couple of divorces, changing professions, raising a family, etc.

Hey, are you the same "robin" as on CoCo View Chat? I'm a member there too...just "TJ" there.

yep, that's me. I was a lurker there for years before I decided to go. Now I am kicking myself for not going sooner. Oh well, all those other places we went were good comparision point for how great a resort CCV really is!
