thinking about coz at end of march/beginning of april(hello lulubelle)-trying to do it on the cheap and have been steered to safari inn/aqua safari-any insights? don't need anything other than a decent bed, shower and more importantly good DO(they offer fast boats & large boats, reasonable nitrox & 3 tanks a day=+++)

I liked Aqua Safari alot.
We were on the big boats, and they used most of the day. They would pick us up at 8:30 and drop us off at 2:30. Their business was pretty slow in Oct. so they were having trouble getting enough people for the afternoon dives. And they don't mix their own nitrox so I did not use any(only did 2 dives a day). Some of the folks we dove with were staying at the Inn and had good things to say. I would say 'good choice'.

I like Aqua Safari, never dove with Papahogs...but everyone that I know who dives with them, loves em. AS has 1 fast boat Belinda and a couple large boats. Safari Inn would be my vote just because it is in town and that is nice when doing a budget trip. If being in town is not really important to you, sounds like PH may meet your diving needs better.
Have fun either way you go! ![]()

Hi Scubagirlj-Opal at scubamaucozumel can get a great deal for you at Villa Blanca Hotel also. The dive shop she owns is also great and it's at the pier there too. They have fast boats and great dms. Fruit and water on board. Dive your gas too. Tell her kevin sent ya and she'll give you a great deal. have fun.

Don't know if you made up your mind yet. I've stayed at Safari Inn twice and they are great. Only recommendation is to get a back room. Being in town is great for afternoons after diving but cars go by none stop and the dive tanks banging around almost all night. Not real loud, just loud enough to hear it. Second trip we wanted to have balcony looking out to water. Back room is much nicer for sleeping. I have never done Papa Hogs. Both times we went, I researched the cheapest price over all and Safari inn is the best. Email them from their website and Donna will email you back within an hour or so. She works early morning so if you email after 3pm it will be next day. DM Chino is highly recommended. Very short, slightly chubby guy with a gold/ silver (can't remember) tooth.
