Cozumel Trip Report Feb 10 thru 17
I really needed this trip!!!
Stayed at the Occidental Grand Cozumel (AI) and dove with Dive Palancar. Goal for the trip: Splendid Toadfish, some turtle shots for a friend, and complete a night dive. Mission accomplished! ![]() Weather: Great! about 85 degree with humidity, water temp at depth was around 80. Rained a bit on Monday and Tuesday. We dove 2 a days, mostly the shallow dives 60-70 feet, deeper than that, it's swim thrus, no thanks. Cedral Wall, Cedral Pass, San Francisco Wall, Casa Blanca, Delilah, and French Lady were the sites. Critters were plentiful and seemed to have grown in size tremendously (is there a nuclear plant nearby?). I'll post some photos later, when I have some time to color correct them. I did have some issues with my camera, so I didn't get as many photos as I expected. I did a night dive (my first one) at Cedral Pass. It was incredible!!!!!! The highlight of the dive was an Octopus wandering around, and, upon seeing our lights, flared up, extended his tentacles, then changed color. I would have killed for a video camera just for that!! For all of you that expressed your good wishes and help getting me thru my first night dive...THANKS A MILLION, YOU WERE SOOOO RIGHT!! I was so jazzed, I even talked my wife into trying one, unfortunately, we couldn't get enough people to sign up for it, darn. I really hated coming home, oh well..............

I promised pictures
I promised some pictures, so here they are. My Goal on this trip was turtle and Splendid Toadfish photos. In the past, they have been elusive, not this trip! My wife spotted the one coming out of it's hole. I was happy just to see the one in the hole (third row). Turtle have always been plentiful, but they were larger than usual, I do mean larger
