Doubles on Zeagle Tech BC

Hello all,

I will be mounting double on my Zeagle tech BC and I saw that Zeagle sells the pair of stabilizing plates for $30. I also notice that Diverite sells their version for the transpack for half the price $15. To me they seam to serve the same purpose and I wanted to know if anybody has ever tried this.

Zeagle Express - Twin Tank Mounting Plates -

SCUBA Diving Equipment for Technical, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc - Product Catalog - TransPac™ Stab Plates

I also know that I can use a backplate but I want to try this first.

Thanks,

I have a buddy who uses the Dive Rite stabilizing plates on his transpac. He hasn't complained about them. YMMV.

SSteel mini plate

Anyway, just in case anybody wants to know, I ordered the DR SSteel plates for the transpack and the worked great on the Zeagle Tech BC. Its almost the same thing but the DR is half the price.

Just wanted to share my findings,

I know a guy who dives a Ranger with doubles with the Zeagle Mounting Plates and they seem to work well for him.

I used them with my TransPacII, and they worked well enough. They weren't quite as stable as a backplate mount, but they weren't bad.

How did you find the huge 65lbs wing on the doubles?

Honestly,

I use the huge 65lb wing for my single also and its not bad at all. I have to barely put air in and I have to hear when I dump. The good thing is that there is a strap that attaches to the BC and keep the wing from flapping around. I have no complains, it does not bother me at all and my trim is great.

Smile

I dive a Zeagle Tech Pac which is a stripped down Zeagle Tech in a form more conducive for technical diving. When I had this bc in its original form as a Tech prior to converting it to a Pac I had purchased those 2 small mounting plates. I never found them to be overly stable with steel doubles....so now I just use a standard Zeagle bp in place of the 2 small plates....does wonders for the entire platform! The 65lbs. wing is great and is well designed.
