55 Lbs Wings- Pros and Cons

I am looking at buy a 55 pound wing. I have already eliminated those wings that have the bungy cord restraining laces on the outside because I would worry about them adding to the danger of entagelments inside a wreck. Other than that, I am interested in the pros and cons of the different wings. It is not required that you own one. Any comments you have overheard are also welcome.

Thanks for your contributios,

Art

your choice of wing depends on you and your gear
as far as 50ish pound wings go, the oxycheq seems more streamlined than the halcyon. that's about all i've got...

I bought a used Halcyon 55 several years ago, and have been happy with it. It it a bit of overkill (and a bit too big) for my small doubles, but it doesn't taco so bad as to become a problem.

If I was buying again today, I would buy one of Oxycheq's wings, becuase they are absolutley awesome.

I've got an OxyCheq doubles wing myself, but it's smaller than the one you're looking at. It's a great wing. Pros: It's well made out of durable materials, and costs significantly less than many competing products. Cons: Nothing comes to mind, except maybe the limited selection of colors.

What kind of info are you looking for?

I have the 55# OxyCheq Vertex 360. Fantastic wing. No taco issues even on my small(ish) doubled HP100s. Very streamlined, considering the amount of lift.

I like a lot of Halcyon's gear, and very little of it is bad. But there are better options on the market, IMO, in many instances. Wings is one of those instances. Halcyon's wings are excellent, but OxyCheq's are better, as are those from Deep Sea Supply. And Agir-Brokk.

I as well have the Oxycheq 55lb 360 Vertex Signiture series wing and use it on my double lp108's, I like it just wish the corregated inflator hose was a little shorter but to be honest thats more of a personal preferance, may get one a bit shorter down the road as they are cheap and easy to replace.

I have 2 of the H 55lb wings. The first when I setup my first doubles (LP 104's) and the second when my wife wanted doubles (LP85's). I got a 'blemish' H wing new with warranty for $160ish from Extreme Exposure. Couldn't touch any others for that price at the time - 2004.

To me, its wing and it simply works. Mine are old enough that they didn't have the inflator issues.

My best memory of owning that wing is the day I sold it on Cave Diver Forum.
