STA bolts size?

Am considering buying a DR STA for no other reason than to try one, I use a Mach V with roll control and am happy with it but wanna try one anyway, clearly I have too much money LoL...My question is what size are the bolts? Ive seen 3 different sizes 8mm, 5/16x18 and 3/8x16...what is the usual size? or what size should I use with a DR plate and DR STA? thanks to anyone who can help...

The STA comes with the bolts in place (part of the STA) and has the wing nuts and washers as well. Nothing to buy but the straps-or use ones you already have.

Cheers for the info, was considering ordering the DSS derlin thumbwheels but note they come in 3 diff sizes so was wondering which one to order and if there was standard bolt size. It doesn't really matter just I was making an order with DSS and given the freight charge was just gonna add a couple of small items to bring per unit freight price down

I would advise getting the 5/16 DSS thumbwheels for your STA. That's the most common size for STAs, at least, among the two I've used. (Which includes DiveRite and Halcyon) Second most common size is the 3/8 size, if you want to buy both just to be sure.

I feel your pain on shipping, even here. I end up having friends pick them up in person, or waiting until I have several things to order, before buying thumbwheels. Somehow it feels wrong to spend over $5 to ship a $5 item!

thanks for that yeah its a bit depressing when its the freight cost that is often the deciding factor as to whether i make a purchase or not and not the price of the equipment im after. My fault for living out in the colonies guess ha ha. Cheers all.

STA bold is 5/16" diameter SS carriage bolt. If you use DR plate, Oxycheq or DR STA and Oxycheq wing, the bolt length should be 1-1/4" in length. Any shorter, you cannot attach the wing nut in securely. However, getting 5/16" x 1-1/4" SS carriage bolt is NOT a easy task. I got a pack of 4 for $5 at Lowe's. Not all Lowe's carry them tho.

I really had to dig to find them in stainless at Lowe's, but they had them. No such luck with the Home Depot.
