My New Freedom SS Backplate
Just got my new plate and got it setup and ready to dive. It's the called an Freedom Plate and smaller than my SS Hollis plate but only weights about 9 oz less. Here some photos. You can not use it with a STA but the long holes for the straps gives lot adjustment for tank height. Not sure how it's going to affect trim yet being narrower at the top.

Eric (the guy behind the Freedom Plate) is the founder of my dive club (North Coast Divers) and great diver.
Lots of my friends dive with the Freedom Plate and swear by them. Eric is a true craftsman and it shows. He's also into minimalist diving, no wing, just spot on weighting and "old school" dive techniques.

The way the harness threads the straps are at a better angle and lay flatter than a standard plate. Like I said the only concerns I have is that I have heavy feet and I worried about the weight shift. It will be the middle of Oct before I will have a chance to dive it but I will report back. You have to call him to order, so if you ever do plan on 30 to 45 minutes on the phone - he has a really passion of diving and loves to talk about it. Great Guy!!!
