GreenForce HID lights

I would like to hear any reports on the Greenforce HID lights. I would be interested in something around the 9amh and 18w...

My other choices would be Halycon or maybe Diverite

Cheers Aussie

i myself never used one, but seriously considered buying it at some point and talked to people who sell it and used it. greenforce has very modular system of battery, umbilical, and light, so you can get different light heads and use them with the same umbilical and battery. in terms of performance, it's very good but so are other brands you mentioned. There is a trend of switching to LED technology from HID, so you'd better check that topic as well before you pay ~1000 for something that potentially can be outdated soon.

The can will not be outdated nor will the head. HID will be around for a while longer, quite a while longer. LED is making progress.

As for Green Force from what I have read people like them and they are rugged. I looked at putting together a system but was unsure about the head sizes as I wanted a system for myself and my wife who has small hands.

I looked at the Green Force lights. IMO they may have the best system out there. Very modular, durable, and a lot of options for the videographer.

I chose to go with the Sartek light instead. This was largely due to price. For under $600 I got a 10W HID with a focusable head and a LiON battery which is nice and compact. That price also included the goodman handles (both types), and a diffuser head.

HERE is their website. The prices listed here are good, but I found a seller on Ebay that beat these by hundreds, and it shipped directly from the factory, so yes, authorized dealer with warranty.

Nor can a buggy whip! Ohhh wait! LED's are impressive, and the technology is moving quickly.

I know the rep (Robyn Basher) for Green force, and have seen just about everything they have to offer. They are NICE. They are Expensive.

Hand size does not matter much, you can get a goodman handle that is adjustable. Head size IMO is more of an issue. A 35W light is overkill in a lot of situations. Big Watt=Big head, and larger batteries. My 10W HID has a nice compact battery, and burns for 4 hours. A 21W head would burn for 2 hours, or required 2x the size battery.

Pretty expensive lights, although they are good. Can get nice UK lights for a TON less.

I am looking at a 21w HID with 9amh battery. I dont think anything by UK would be in the same league.

Anyone with a 21w HID in any brand?

The only divers I know who invest in Greenforce are all videographers and they want the best for what they do. Personally, I like the Salvo lights and you can check Salvosupply.com to view them. ST has a 21 watt Dive Rite on sale for $999. That's at least a couple of hundred bucks cheaper that most of the 21/9's sell for.

I started with a Dive Rite 21 Watt, upgraded now to 24 watts. For what it's worth both are nice but I prefer the 24 watt. No issues to speak of so far.
