I know a DIR hose for primary reg is suppose to be 5-7 ft long, crossing the chest and up around the neck into the mouth.

The secondary reg is suppose to be sitting under the chin when not in use. How long should this hose be?

Thanks.

Not sure how I missed that.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>That is what I am using with my Mk5 &amp; Mk10 but I use a28" HP hose which I could probably drop to 26" now that the 1st is canted a bit. Only problem I am having is the secondary hose is pointed upward a bit and tends to ride a little high. I am thinking of using a piece of velcro tape to hold down so it doesn't ride above my primary hose. I'll probably give it more time to see if I get used to it.</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks.</DIV>

So I was looking at getting some hoses.

I found the 5 Foot Octo Hoses listed at $24. But then this Single Tank Hose Kit which has a 5 foot LP hose + 22" LP hose + 24" HP hose listed for $74.95!? Hmm...

The longer hose is not for your octo. The long hose configuration uses the long hose for your primary, which gets donated, and the short hose for your secondary reg, which is worn on a bungee necklace around your neck. The primary hose routes down your right side, across your waist, up your chest and around the back of your neck. In the event of an OOA diver, you donate the primary off the long hose (It will slip easily over your head) with your right hand, while your left hand pops the secondary up a couple of inches right into your mouth. So you'd better use a good octo, and not one of the cheapies that are so common!

I feel the long hose configuration is the safest configuration to use (and the most streamlined, ironically), but I would do more research and make sure you understand how it is supposed to be used before making any changes from the way you learned in OW class.
