7' hose routing

Not a DIR question.

I have been using a 7 foot hose since I took the Cavern course. I have recently viewed some photos of myself and see a huge loop of hose behind my head.

Should it be like this? How do I tighten it up?

I route the hose down behind my right shoulder, across my chest and in a loop around my head.

Thanks

I tuck my hose under my waist strap on the right side. I keep my belt snug, and I can adjust the amount of slack on the 7ft hose by pulling out or down on the belt loop of hose.

If you don't have a can light, but have a pair of shears, you can put the shears on the waist strap where the light would go and loop the hose under that. Otherwise just tuck it like Fire Diver and Charles said.

7 ft hose, you need to secure the big scope around something at your rigt hip, (light, knife, pouch) or pull the loop behind you waist strap.
What you describe is the way most people would run a 5 ft (maybe 6 ft) hose.

I had my knife there, and hated it and the knife is on my shoulder strap. My cannister for my light is on my tank strap. I hated it hanging on my waist. I am looking at weight pouches and dropping the belt, so I could wrap around the weight pouch. Until I double up my tanks.... I could leave the pouch as a pocket and use it to wrap my hose.

How about just stuffing excess hose into your waist strap? Otherwise Diverite makes this pocket which has a stiffener stitched in the back.

The Waist Pocket features a top flap with plenty of VELCRO to ensure it stays securely closed and a pull tab that allows for easy opening, even while wearing heavy gloves. The deep bellows pocket includes an interior D-ring connection point, mesh divider to organize notepad or slate separate from other items, bottom drain grommet, and two side grommets. Between the two side grommets, shock cord or surgical tubing may be strung to organize markers and clips. An attachment loop and stiffener fits any 2-inch webbing waist strap and can serve as a retainer for routing the long hose. Dimensions: 10" high x 6" wide x 2.5" deep

Yup! That is what I need!

As an aside... In a drysuit the water has to be dang cold before I wear really heavy gloves. My hands do not get that cold if I am in a drysuit.

I have a pouch like that and with the 7ft hose I still have to tuck it under my waist strap. I really do not notice it there at all and like the fact that if I feel that there is to much slack behind my head all I have to do is pull on the loop and it stays where I want it. Just looping it under the pocket still left me with to much slack for my liking.

You will find what works best for you.
