Wings that work w/ Octo/inflators ?

I'm interested in the BP/W configuration, but would like to streamline it a little more by getting an inflator octo like the Aeris Air Link Inflator Octo

Does anyone out there have a BP/W w/ an octo inflator?
Are there wings that will accept this configuration and ones that will not?

Any info much appreciated!

I have never personally seen anyone use an octo-inflator with a BP/W setup. If that's what you want to do, I'm sure it connects just like any other rig. An inflator hose is and inflator hose. You may need to change it out for a different length though.

You can put one on any inflator... but probably not that one. Most your wings are going to have the larger diameter tubes - that one is an Aeris / Oceanic which is the smaller diameter. - same as this: http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...nateInflat or Again... smaller diameter.

So go with any of these and you'd be good:

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...2200SourceOcto

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...ID=ZeagleOctoZ

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...PRODUCT_ID=IR3

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai..._ID=GeminiOcto

Now most wings won't have a pull dump - so you can skip that feature - but any of those should do what you are after.

If you don't have the wing yet, and are getting it at the same time, we can install it at no charge.

Hope that helps!

In DIR Tech diving streamlined would be using long hose and second reg on a bungee.

The problem with this idea is you can not dump air while using the OctoInflator as a reg.

I have one on my Zeagle Stiletto, and like it. However putting one on a wing seems a bit odd.

If you do need to share air, you will have to remove the Octo from you mouth, dump air, and them purge it and resume breathing. This is not all that hard, but keep in mind the reason you have that in your mouth is because your buddy is OOA, and you will be task loaded.

For my BP/W I have it setup ala GUE style with a long hose, and bungee backup.

Sorry - I'm not catching on...If I had the octo/inflator on a wing with a pull dump, couldn't I continue to breathe through the octo/inflator and just pull the cord to dump air?

Yes... you could - just not all wings have dumps. And depending on how you are wearing your gear, if you are making an ascent with your octo inflator in your mouth, it is probably the highest point anyway... so just pushing the exhaust will dump air.

I'm not sure that's going to work well, but I'll try it next time I dive. I generally ascend in a horizontal position, but not sure I could in an air share situation, depending on my buddy. Dumping air out of the rear dump is fine as long as it's the highest point, so you'd have to be horz and head down to rear dump which I do often, but not generally during share air drills.

When dumping air and breathing off the octo, I'm not sure that you would be effective at dumping air are as the octo hose is going down and over your shoulder and then to the mouth. For me the valve is going to be about level with my mouth.

There is a good reason BC manufactures have the pull dump for use with the octo/inflater. That is so the air is dumping right from the top of the BC valve rather than having to go through the inflater hose if the Octo is stuffed into ones mouth!

One option maybe to replace the entire valve, hose, and inflater with something made by Zeagle. But I'm not sure if there is any standard as to the thread size on wings, or BC's.

Thanks - my sole intention was to see if I could just eliminate one more hose from my rig. It's looking like I can, albeit with some tradeoffs.

The best way to streamline is to make sure your hoses are all the correct lengths. If you want to use and inflator/regulator that is fine, but it is really moving in the opposite direction from technical streamlining.
