For those that built their own trans-fill/mixing whip, similiar to this one; http://www.divegear.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=194 What did it cost you to make? I have not been able to find a single site that sells all the parts and you end up ordering from about 3 of them to get all the parts, shipping then adds up and you end up nearly the same dollar figure? At least from what I've seen.

I'm at work right now, so I can't give you details until tomorrow. But I priced out all the components for a deluxe whip. Better than the one you linked to. The one I plan on making has a digital guage on the fill side, another guage (analog) on the supply side, needle valve, whip, and end connectors. I costs a little more, but is a better whip. More details to come. Most of the parts were from McMaster-Carr

Go to Decostop or ScubaBaord (I think) and buy one of PPO2 Diver's transfill whips instead. Fantastic quality components, and half the cost of the Halcyon. It's possible to save money building it yourself, but not much and it's a huge hassle.

Yeah, PPO2 diver sells them on Scubaboard. $250 comes to mind for it. Building it as I priced isn't that much cheaper from what I can tell, plus you've got to clean it before you put it together as well. Not that it's hard to O2 clean them, but depending on how you value your time it adds up.

Duane's whips are a bit less as they are strictly a trans fill from scuba to scuba - i.e. no QD and adaptors to O2 and He. But they are very nice. He does not sell them for much more than it costs to make them yourself.
Besides MC for the gas side and QDs Northeast Scuba Supply has the scuba side fittings. |

I want my whip to do it all. What I'm seeing is that no one place sells all the parts cheaply, and if you shop around shipping eats up the savings anyways.
One of these days I'll get serious and build the thing.
