Canister Light Attachment

Anyone got a suggestion as to how to mount a canister light when you use a Halcyon rig with ACB weight pouches without having to remove the RH pouch every time to want to remove or attach the canister?

The web loop works a treat if there's no weight pouches.

Sure.

Weight belt.

:P

(curious to hear if there is a good solution myself... not that I'll ever use the ACB system)

Actually, now that I think about it, I once knew a guy who changed his canister attachment to a bungee (or was it surgical tubing?) that stretched down from the back and looped around the front, and the same for the top (to give two bands). That way he could pop it on and off of the BC he used. Relatively secure, and he never had an issue, but I'm not sure I'd trust it 100% with something that expensive.

Halcyon recommends putting the can on before the pouch, but since that's not what you want to do you might consider either modifying the pocket, coming up with a different way to attach it to the same location (like a carabiner or something, if you can make it secure and stable), or mount it to your backplate like an argon bottle.

Personally, I'd probably address the problem by eliminating it through finding an alternative to using the ACB pockets.

My first question is what size canister? If its small, you can tuck in along the plate. If its big, you could mount it on the tank. You could also 'butt mount' it like the old 14AH lead acid canisters.

It's a 10A-21W Salvo canister. I don't really want to attach it to the plate or cylinder. Kind of defeats the desire to be able to remove if required underwater..

So far Compudude's suggestion is the most attractive. I may need to go buy a weight belt just for the torch. Now..... What color belt?

I think he was suggesting you stop using the ACB system and start using a weight belt, for your weights.

As I use the ACB system more than the torch and I like the integrated system that's not an option. Hence Plan B separare belt for the torch.

I'm gonna play devils advocate here and ask: When would you want to remove the can light underwater? In all of my diving, I have never been in a situation or even had planned for a situation where I would ditch mine.
