Because some people want to make the mistake of trying to use it as both a single and a double tank wing

Exactly. They like the look of having their tank look like a hotdog in a taco shell. It's possible to make it work, but your trim and such will be better if you use a single wing with a single tank. With a double, that's alot of space to manage an air bubble in, albeit a cheap alternative.

Put simply it has that feature because the manufacturer believes people will pay for it.

And I knew of one diver who had one that tried to use it in a single tank config. He told me afterwards it was one of the worst dives he'd ever done because he could never get things right, he was always being tipped one way or another due to the taco effect.

He immediately bought a single tank wing.

I wanted to do that as well but then I reinforce the empty space with think lexam to even the flow but then thought too much work and so i ordered the oxycheq, can't wait to get it. I will buy the double wing when i buy 2 steel tanks and the rest of it. This forum gave me some good advice

Yep, they're not kidding when they say it just doesn't work to mix singles/doubles; it's not just another ploy to make more money.

I made the mistake of buying a wing that could be used for singles and doubles. While I did not have a problem with trim due to the air volume, I did have a problem with air getting trapped and making me excessively buoyant and not being able to vent the wing. I immediately ordered an Oxycheq 30# wing. I love it. So much easier to control.

The multi-purpose wing looks like it might be OK for small doubles, but it will have problems with larger tanks.

Does anyone make a tan wing? I think it would be hilarious to dive that with a red tank with a wavy yellow line down the middle!

I've always wondered why also.
