Can Lights - Which one?

I'll probably get a can light sometime this year (probably my Christmas present from my wife). What do most of you guys have, and if you could have anything you wanted , what would that be? I'll probably be in the $1200 range, so keep it close to that if possible.

If it were my $1200 I would go for a Salvo light. Nothing but good reviews on these and they stand behind the product. You can get a standard head, 9 amp, 21 Watt HID with 4 hours of burn time for $1250. That's the price on the Salvo web page so you might be able to do better through one of their dealers. I don't own one yet but that will be my next big purchase.

That's the way I'm leaning right now, and that's why I came up with the $1200. I have 1 of their rat lights, and it's great.

I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a Rat light today as well. I have Scouts but want to get an LED light.

I am looking at upgrading from an 'older' big bertha 50watt halogen Dive Rite Wreck canister to a new 24watt/HID Dive Rite Wreck canister light.

Any particular reason you are going with Dive Rite vrs Salvo? I'm not saying 1 is better than the other, just want to get your input. I've seen both Dive Rite & Salvo 10w lights in action (but not on the same dive). The reason I'm leaning toward Salvo right now is their warranty.

I like the LED torches from OxyCheq. I plan to get one of those, if not, Salvo will be my next choice.

Good question--- like you point out both are good lights and each will do the job. I have used Dive Rites lights in the past and really like them....I have several better/$ sources for the DR over the Salvo. The 10 watt lights are good for general purpose diving. I am going with a bit more kick/24 watt-HID as it will serve my current and future needs better.

I have the Dive Rite 24 Watt HID and IMO that's a can light that I'm completely comfortable with. I've had no problems with it beyond those I caused myself, it's also pretty touch as far as lights go.

It's bright, I've not seen anything brighter on my dives with it and the buddies I've dove with have always commented on how nice it is. IMO for the money and the company I'd say it's a great value in lights.

Always good to hear from others that use and find the light a positive benefit to their gear.
