Ah, I see.

In the 70's I would carry a 4ft pole spear (no tip) on a lot of dives.

I used as a tickle stick, held me off the bottom if I was over weighted for some reason (no BC), push off sharks (if I was taking pics and buddies were spearing), would put an orange glove on it when I surfaced (no smb)

I'd like to place an order for the reel, please. Of course, I expect the 10% forum discount, free shipping, and same money-back guaranty and customer service as ST.

I might order the muck stick in the future to deal with a certain dive buddy.

Sounds like you should order one from ST!
Actually, I could have ordered a "REAL" reel for a bit more money, but I love to tinker with stuff!

Looks great! Like I said the project got put on the back burner for me. What you did was what I was trying to find with no luck. Where did you get the file handles and how is the rod attached? Reel looks great to BTW.

Darin, they're #10 nylon file handles from Tool Town USA. They fit very well, matter of fact, you have to drive them onto the rods with a hammer. I can get you some if you need them. They're CHEAP!

Those handles look perfect for the application!

I'll have to see if I can find a place around here that carries #10 file handles... I wasn't really aware there was such a thing!
