EASY!!! Goodman Handle for can light

Here is a great option for a goodman handle. It is the Oxycheq hand sock which was designed for the Raider II. It takes a little patience to get it to go over, but it is very stable and makes a great handle. I like the stability the bungee around the hand provides and SCUBA Toys sells for about $25. Not really a traditional goodman, but very comfortable and nice. I now want one for my Salvo LED... I will see if it fits.

Is this a DIY? Do you have plans for it? I'd love to make one.

The hand sock is a new product from Oxycheq. I imagine if you had some sewing skills it wouldn't be too hard to make. But for $25, I'd just buy it.

I really like the looks of that. I'll have to go that route when I start getting my lights acquired this winter.

According to Barry at Salvo, you can purchase their hard goodman handle for $30. Providing you can make it fit your light somehow, that might be easier, and I know I much prefer a hard goodman.

Huh? I remember it being on the order of $80 for a hard goodman.

Just checked Salvosupply - hard goodman with head is over $100, elastic mount is $20. Am I missing something?

Barry gave me the quote in an email, and said the product was not on the website. What you are looking at is the head and the handle, and what I am talking about is just the handle and cross bar--I think it might come with the clip for the light but don't quote me on that. If you email or call I know he will take great care of you, he's an amazingly nice guy to work with, just like Patrick over at Oxycheq.

Why are we having this discussion though? Don't canister lights come with goodman handles? And why is it in DIY*, since it is a commercially made product?
*See note below, I think I might have figured out why it's in DIY but I'm not certain

I much prefer the hard goodman for the ease of changing hands and the solid feel. When I move the handle, the light moves too, no ifs and or buts, no lagging, no stretching of anything soft. And when I want to keep the light focused straight while I pull and glide with my right hand for my buddy's ease of mind (if I pull and glide with the hand holding the light, it jerks side to side or up and down as I pull, looking suspiciously like the "I need your attention immediately!" light signal), I can very easily slip it over to the other hand. With the soft goodman I used before, I found it more difficult and time consuming to move, something you don't want when you are diving a high flow cave

If you are looking to use something like the light sock with a hand held light, that's a thought, and I believe the bungee setup would help keep the thing in place even with a longer light. However, I don't think it's the holy grail of light accessories, and it's simply not a product I would find any use for.

(now my buddy, when he forgot his primary light once and had to use zipties and surgical tubing to hold his brighter-than-the-current-model-of-Raider-modified-LED-UK SL4 to his hand, he might have appreciated this product, if it's flexible enough to get the obtusely shaped SL4 in. Infact, if anyone has the Lightsock and an SL4 or SL6, I'm sure he'd appreciate knowing.)

BTW, the way I show it in the picture, it is backwards, I found it comfortable that way. I'll switch it and see if it makes a difference.
