DIY Dive Flag Buoy

Here's one I put together. It's will only be used in lakes around here, not in any kind of current.

Made the flag at work (sign shop) out of a vinyl banner and zip tied it to a PVC pole. Drilled 5 holes:

2 - Flag
2 - for the pins - One pin sits above the basket, the other beneath it
1 - Weights







Went to a tire store and picked up an inner tube, then zip tied a basket (Dollar General) to it.




Picked up the line at Lowe's for under $3. It's poly line, so it floats. Added a clip to secure it to the basket.





Voila! Made the "Diver Below" at work also.

yup, once. i need to add a little more weight to the bottom of the pole so it will stand more upright. other than that, works like a charm.

Very nice and a good design.

Check your fishing and/or boating regulations as these are where one would normally find the diver down flag display requirements. Keep in mind, I know of several areas that require the flag to set a minimum of three feet off the water and be of a specifc minimum size. The dimensions should be clearly defined in the regs.

Nice. I have been thinking of going to a blowup or inter tube flag float, i might have to try this. Thank for posting it.

just 50' on this one. they had others with 100'. i knew i wouldn't be needing that around here. I actually got it at Lowe's, but I'm sure Home Depot has them as well.

Probably would be a good idea to add a stiff wire to keep the flag extended at all times when there isnt a wind to keep it blowing..
