That's pretty smart. It doesn't matter that the shed was pre-fabed. It's still a DIY to me. And, sure, you could always construct your own item.
One advantage the plastic has, though, is that should you find it becomes dirty or whatever on the inside, you can easily clean it up with a garden hose. One thing I thought of, though, was ventilation. Even though you're leaving your gear to dry before you put it away, how much ventilation does that plastic closet get? As much as a regular closet in the house? I'm wondering how it would be to get some inexpensive cinder blocks, put your shed off the ground, then make ventilation holes/a drain in the bottom. Then you could rinse your gear and go right to the gear shed too, without so long of a wait. If you put holes in the bottom, maybe then put some screen over the holes so the air goes in/out and the bugs stay out. I also love the shelf idea. The top becomes kind of an inpromptu work table for small projects, should you need it. |

Yo Marine at ease mate! - put that safety back on soldier
What I was saying was your shed was a great idea. So much so i have emailed Rubbermaid in Australia but they dont import them (Apparently all the old Marines are using them for dive gear sheds in the USA) But knowing how you guys are famous for simplying stuff I was sure that you must of designed your own shed first hand. Oh Smoothdome, I would love to see your design for your dive locker. Kraks

Even better make one a wet shed.....run a garden hose to the top of 1 of the sheds hooked to an sprinkler head ( the kind that just sprays a cone shape water stream ) upside down. put some small drains in the bottom put all your gear you need rinsed in, close the doors.....and turn on the sprinkler...........turn off sprinkler.....let drain then open doors for more ventilation and air dry.....

I think $300.00 is not too bad, especially consitering the value of the gear, like was already mentioned. I think I would put it in a spare bedroom or basement though, I do not like the idea of having it in the garage. I love the smell of wet scuba gear in the house :-P
