DIY Video Camera Housing

Hello everyone, I found this video from Kipkay.com. He makes a underwater housing for his camera using a ammo box and some plexiglass. I'm not sure how deep it will go, but it seems to work well.

I wouldn't use that if you have a good camcorder that you would like to keep using. I can't imagine that to be water tight past about 15 - 20 feet or so...

Looks like 1/4" plex on the front "port" so I'm guessing not very deep before it implodes. If you want to build a housing see this thread.

I knew you could not use it that deep, just thought it was neat and cheap for shallow camera work.

would be a cheap way to build a housing to use in a pool. I have been wwanting to find something easy and cheap to make so I could record my kiddos swimming and playing in our pool and diving in as well. This project seems like the perfect way. I already have a couple ammo cans, I can test both and make sure that one is water tight to begin with and use it. Thanks for the link. This will be a fun little project for a pool cam.

Here is one that I plan on building. I am going to go with the second design on the bottom. I think I am going to make mine with PVC and then the 1" plexigalss top hat. I do not think I want all acrylic.

I've seen that design before. Looks like it would work great, but not sure I have the tools needed for that one. The ammo box can will work for my needs for now. Like I said, just gonna use it in the pool here. The lakes I dive in are so green and vis is so little it wouldn't matter if I had a camera I could take deep, would still need some massive stobes to see anything below about 30 feet.
