I have a pair of jet fins rigged with double bungees. This is where I got the idea: Aloha Shore Divers

At roughly a dollar per strap, does it really matter that much how long they last
.I'll bet they will last you your dive trip. Altough you may want to take a couple spare "straps" with you in case the marine or hardware store is closed. Seriously, I put them on a pair of fins I don't dive much, so I cannot be of much help. I really like them though. I wish I had put them on one of my pairs of Jets instead the $80.00 Halcyon springs.

Other than a cost savings and temporary fix, I guess I am trying to understand why you would use do something like this. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with using it, period. I would (and do) have a backup set of fins and do not give it a second thought.

A reason could be that it's much easier to rig up the DIY bungie setup than it would be the SS springs. Personally, I don't see the bungie setup as 'perminate' as the springs would be. I dunno awap, how sturdy are your bungies? What kind of cord did you use and how did you attach them?
