Wet suit pockets.

Here's what I'd like to do. Let me know what you guys think or if anyone has tried this.

I want pockets on my wetsuit. Problem is I have a Bare 4/5 that I where on most dives unless I am on vacation in warm water. Now I also have a Bare 7mm Arctic vest that I wear over it on colder dives. This vest has legs like a shorty so if I put pockets on the 4/5 they would be the problem of wearing the 7mm over it.

What I am thinking of is gluing Velcro to the leg on the 5/4mm and 7mm then to the back of the pocket. That way I could move the pocket between suits and not have the problem of it being in the way when I wear both. The little Velcro on the inside suit shouldn't be a problem with the outside one.

The engineering sounds good. I too have wanted to do something like this. What type of glue do you plan to use and are you going to sew it as well for extra strength?

I would be afraid the Velcro would not hold with any thing heavy in the pocket.

yup...

I don't see why a thin pocket sewn onto the inside wetsuit would cause that big of a problem - the material doesn't have to be very thick at all...

I am pretty sure that the Op is talking about velcroing the pocket onto the wetsuit not sewing. Sewing is good but won't for what he needs. I think Oxycheq makes a pocket that straps around the leg and connects to a weight belt or BP/W harness.

if you use the velcro and then either an elatic strap around your leg or a nylon strap with a Quick release buckle? That should make it support a little more weight.

That is not a bad DIY idea. I have glued pockets on all of my wetsuits and they are rock solid but I am not trying to remove them.

Those are the ones I was talking about, not Oxycheq. Do they stay put.

how thick of a pocket are we talking about here? I don't see why a thin pocket wouldn't work out ok if left on the wetsuit underneath...?
