BCD Pockets. Just Made

Just finished making 2 pockets for my Knighthawk BCD. They fit on the webbing behind the integrated weight pockets. One is holding a SMB and the other a combination Backup-light/Strobe-light. Very reachable but out of the way.

Will post pics as soon as wife gets home with Digital camera.

I heard that the LadyHawke is the female version of the Knighthawk. Is that true?
I'm saving to get a Transpac... but I'm now wondering if I should buy a second hand jacket bcd in the meantime. The LadyHawk is one on sale.

The lady hawk is a female version of the Knighthawk. My wife is using a ladyhawk and loves it.

The only drawback is the limited number of pockets.

The Knighthawk has 2: a fold out mesh bag and a small pocket bigh enough for a small back-up light.

The Ladyhawk has only 1: the fold out mesh bag.

They both have plenty of d-rings to clip stuff to it.

I have made 3 pockets for gear that fit nicely behind the integrated weight pockets without getting in the way of anything. I am also looking at adding a zippered flat pocket for a signal mirror/key/id that will attach on the velcro cummerbund closure on the front.

When I get home from work I'll try to post pics.

The only thing I don't like about the Ladyhawk is the lack of pockets, I consider that roll down pocket awkward and useless - at best ok for an occasional thing but not for regular use. I finally did the same thing - pockets on the webbing back near the plastic plate. I also have a small mesh one on the webbing in front.

Pics of my pockets

As promised.

The first 4 pics are of the pocket on my left side. Has a velcro closure and holds a SMB. It is held on by the webbing from the quick relase in the front of the BCD that runs to the backplate. The pocket just has a wide belt loop on the back and the webbing goes through it.

The last pic is of the 2 pockets on the other side. same basic construction as the first. The small one holds a jon line and the larger a Back-up light/Strobe.

About $20.00

1 yd of nylon fabric
3 yds of 2in nylon webbing
Spool of 3/4 in nylon trim
Heavyduty thread
1 yd sew on velcro

Hardest part was getting the trim straight.
