All my cylinder inspection tools are DIY.....I have no need for an Eddy Current machine.

Did you build a low voltage string of light or did you stick with 120V lights? I have a couple of the Luxfer tanks that fall between 82-88' so I was just curious what an Eddy current machine said about them

I don't know that a Eddy current machine would be feasible to DIY. As far as lights there are many options. It seems that the trick is to get enough light.

I found some dental mirror and picks and also led lamp (white led in tubing) where I buy my tools for cheap: princessauto.com

I am sure you got similar auto parts in your area. Check around you will be surprise!

For eddy current tester, I suggest you look under lab equipement or get it direct from PSI. these equipment need calibration on a yearly basis usually.

UV Lamp: got it from my lab supplier material for about 150$ which is cheaper than PSI at 255$

Hope this can help.

I saw a tank light that was made from a 12v transformer and a string of 6 christmas tree lights. Worked well.

don't know if I would trust a home made eddy current tester.

I definately would not trust a DIY eddy current tester, but the rest of the tools are fairly easy to pick up. If you dont have a rope light, a thin LED pen light works pretty good too.

Just go to the dollar stor and strip out some book light or other think pen lights and attach a string. Though i don't need to do a visual since my tank is fairly new and they won't fill it without a viz sticker I don't neeed to bother.
