Adding a U-Bolt and Clip to an Apollo Scooter

I want to add a U-bolt and clip to my two Apollo Scooters so I can attach them to my crotch strap (let the jokes commence!). I found this link on how to do it:
dacor

Now I am wrestling with two ways to do this. The illustrations he shows puts the attachment at the top center. This does make some sense but it seems like you still have to hold the scooter with two hands. When looking at other models like the x-scooter they have one handle near the shroud since you aren't being pulled by your arms and are only steering. They have a the attachment at the base of the shroud. If I wanted to emulate this wouldn't it make more sense to put the U-Bolt in line with the trigger button like the last pic in the examples pics?:
Variations
And if so would it make more sense on the top or bottom to maintain the best trim? Not sure if anyone has ever tried this or has experience with using this type of setup on an Apollo but just looking for some advice.

Thanks in advance....

Guess I will have to "Dive the problem" to determine the best location.

Sorry you didn't get any responses. Maybe this isn't something that anyone here has done before. Hopefully you can get it worked out rather quickly and with the testing and trial and error you will be an asset when another person has the same question. Good luck.

I figured it was a long shot that someone has tried this setup on an Apollo Scooter. I will just setup up some temporary connections and lengths to test out different configurations.

I have a SeaDoo Explorer, so I can't speak as to the Apollo, but I can tell you exactly what the piece of hardware was used for the last picture, I used tons of them when building a sailboat, they are called bullseyes:

http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d273000/e271832.asp

As for where to attach, I'd attach it to the top center, otherwise it will tend to want to spin when you let go of the scooter. If you want a less permanent way of keeping the scooter nearby, check these out:
CRLO3, Light Accessories, Cetecea, CRLO3

I have mine attached to the handle of the scooter, then the clipped to the d-ring on my right hip, so I can release it and let it hang without worrying about losing the scooter, or clip it and keep it close.

Obviously this would not work for bring towed by the scooter however.

Also, I would never use the clip that is shown in the piuctures, those clips are referred to as suicide clips for a good reason, they will clip to anything. If you decide to replicate their setup, use one of these:

Dive Rite Snap Bolt, Accessories-Clips & Retractors, Dive Rite, Dive Rite Snap Bolt
