Harness

I just put together a harness for my back plate and test dove it. It seems to work really well. It is basically a "comfort" harness but it has metal buckles instead of the cheap plastic ones.

pics attached. What do y'all think?

PS: I got everything from here

I look forward to a long term report on how well the metal buckles handle corrosion.

Nice job!

The buckles are nickel platted zinc die cast and have a powder coating on top of that. Nickel really doesn't corrode, and I don't think I can scratch it deep enough to expose the zinc. I'm hoping the springs are stainless, I'm pretty sure they are; although, the buckles are pretty cheap.

So, in DIY, did you save bucks at all or was that not an issue for you? It looks great BTW.

Not really possible to save over a hog harness, but he probably saved a few bucks over a "comfort harness"-type setup.

It cost about as much as a "comfort" harness so I really didn't save any money, but I do have metal buckles. I also got a big head ache from all of the hand stitching and getting everything to the right length.
