Dumb Question...

Here we go... I don't know much about Adobe Acrobat or PDF files. I love that this form is fillable. I will fill and print them out to store them. I also realize that in order to have a new blank form every time, the form must not allow the me to save it once it is filled out. What if I want to have a digital copy of my printed logbook as a back up? How can I save the filled forms to my hard drive?

PS if that was already addressed in this thread I apologize for asking again (I couldn't find the answer).

Thx nefiii

Looks good, definitely beats spending all $17 on a book at the dive shop!

I do not think that you can. I have just been printing mine off. I have thought about scanning them to save them to the computer, but I am not to worried about it right now. If there is a way to save a digital copy from the .pdf please let me know, but I am pretty sure that there is not.

not sure, but I would imagine if you had the adobe full version you could save your log sheets and probably just keeping adding new sheets to the PDF file for each dive - that way one PDF file would be your log and easy to back up - but Adobe is not cheap

I found a possible solution to saving forms which you have already filled out... . The goal is to "print" the form to a file, instead of a printer. You get to choose the folder you want to "print" to. In essence, you are saving the file after it was filled out and you have a digital copy of your printed log sheet. The sequence goes something like this:
  1. File
  2. Print
  3. In the Printer Name box open the drop down menu. There should be some sort of "Virtual Printer" in your drop down box list.
  4. You may have one of several options: choose either "Save to File", "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" or the virtual printer mentioned above. Select one... (I used Microsoft blah, blah...)
  5. OK (Print)
  6. Choose folder to "print" to. This is where the form will be saved.
  7. VIOLA!! You have a digital copy of your log book sheet.

This has been my favorite way to log dives:

Nice, simple, easy and to the point... holds somewhere between 40 and 50 dives per page. I print off the last page of dives when I leave for vacation, and print out a blank sheet on the back of the page... leaves me with a record to show the operator + an easy and compact way to log the trip's dives.

Cool, thanks... That will be nice to use for when I have my laptop with me someplace and no printer. I do not need to wait until I get home....
