Yeah - I'll pass. I've seen guys diving with home made rebreathers. They look like vaccuum cleaner parts. No thanks! I know I don't have the skills to build one on my own

We lost a diver this summer in the Crosby,Mn mines this summer. He was using a homemade rebreather. What I heard was he had biult a nice unit that should have worked but apparently one component failed, and no one was near enough to help.

I see nothing wrong with someone building one theirselves, so long as it exactly mimics every bit of reliability that a manufactured one has...

which can be done...

it just won't be cheap nor will it be easy, access to a cnc machine, lathe, etc would be needed, as well as much more...

the problem is that it would be hard to test safely - you would need a gas analyzer to measure the air returned to the diver... but again, it can be done at home...

I just wouldn't recommend it unless you really know about manufacturing processes...

that was a goodone my cousin that use to spear fish in lake ponchatrain back in the 60s said they tried add water hose to snorkle so they could stay under didnt work
