Lens Protectors
Made some lens protectors for my OceanicProPlus2 computers. (my daughter & I both have one) But this should work on any lens that’s not already too rough to cling.
Went to my local advertising/sign store and asked for some scrap clear window cling vinyl. (he gave me enough to make 50 of them) It comes with a paper peal away backing. So I made a template traced around it, some sharp scissors/exacto-knife and a ready supply of lens protectors. Have made 15 dives on my first one - still clings. |

Great idea. My wife does the scrapbooking thing and has various circle cutters that would cut the film nicely. I don't think they cost anymore than ten bucks.
My tip of the day: don't use the frosted film made for bathroom windows - makes it hard to see the numbers. ![]() |

"I would have thought it would not last two dives."
These were brand new computers - no scratches, I would think with a scratched up surface water would loosen it up. Also inset them slightly so nothing overhanging to pull loose. After 15 dives cant tell without looking closely there even on. There were a few small air bubbles when 1st applied but they disappered after the first dive ( 108' ) go figure ?! |

I used to work at a screenprinting shop and took a few sheets of the stuff home
Except, I made sure to grab the adhesive vinyl, rather than the cling. It's nice and thin, might be thinner than the cling. Goes on easily, won't come off unless I want it to. A sheet of the stuff is something like 2feet by 3feet and usually we charged customers $1.50 per half sheet, and we paid much less than that for the stuff. The shop never had a problem with taking a few half sheets home to cut up to protect screens. I cracked my cell phone screen, the little one on the outside of the flip phone. Put some of that one it. A year and a half ago. Still holding just fine! So I'd reccomend asking for the adhesive vinyl, rather than the cling. |
