I Cut A Hole In My Drysuit!!!

And installed a Salvo balanced pee valve with quick disconnect today.

It was not too bad. I put it where it was in my old dry suit, as I was happy with its placement. The whole thing took about 15 minutes.

But it just seems wrong to cut a hole in a new dry suit!

I've had my 'overboard discharge device' for a year now, but haven't been drunk enough to install it during that time.

You are a braver man than I am.

In so many ways

Damn gotta say that I could re-build my boat engine in the middle of the ocean if broken and not be worried, but cutting a hole in my drysuit would freak the heck outa me!

I still haven't been able to work up the courage to cut a hole in my drysuit so I am still without a p-valve. I justhave to monitor my pre-dive fluid intake.

I installed one of these in my backup suit a few weeks ago and instead of glueing the valve to my suit I went to Home Depot and bought a 1.5" dia neoprene washer and siliconed that to the inside of my suit. The just stuck the valve on top of that without any glue, so that I could take it out of the suit for easy cleaning if I like... Worked like a charm....

You guys should all come live in South Florida, that way you dont need to cut a dry suit... cause you dont need to own one (unless caving i guess)

If I lived in Florida, I'd be a caver, so I guess I may as well stay here.

It was pretty traumatic to punch that hole in mine, too... but I have never regretted it. There is something almost sinful about "taking the pressure off" while hanging at the safety stop, then calmly waiting for the others to scramble aboard in a rush. Being able to confidently enjoy a between dive hot coffee on a cold day.... go ahead and punch the hole, you won't regret it either.
