I'm sure it would be fun but 10k per person without airfare is pretty steep.

I just got rid of all my copper when I renovated too... PEX is superior IMHO and cheaper in my experience. building codes that require copper were probably written when copper was the best option. That isn't necessarily true anymore.

The codes might be for copper in the north, freezing pipes in pvc bad, copper not too bad.

IDK just a thought. . . . . .

A LOT of insurance companies give a discount for copper pipes and surcharge you for anything other than copper. The savings in the pipe may get eaten up if you have a claim related to the PEX. Just something to consider.

It always amazes me just how far off course a thread can go. But from diving in Antartica to the benefits of copper pipes?
(I'm not criticizing cuz I'm just a guilty, just an observation.)

EDIT: Have a great time down there. I have a buddy who has diving Antartica on his bucket list. It's not on mine, but who know. Things change.

I have dived and tended divers in the antarctic. From what I see pretty much any drysuit will work as long as you can fit the necessary undergarments into it. Neoprene suits do offer a bit more insulation but I have seen divers use membrane suits too. I use a suit that's a bit oversize and has boots 2 sizes bigger than my foot size. You also need a substantial weight system because you're going to need a lot of it. With double layer undersuits I ended up using 44lbs whereas "normally" I'd use 32lbs. A weight harness is pretty much compulsory!

Person to ask would be Jill Heinerth
You can post a note over here

and if you don't know who Jill is

Holding the world record for distance travelled in underwater caves as well as being the first person to cave dive in an Antarctic iceberg,
Ms Heinerth has been at the top of her game for 20 years.
She's a north florida local, so she's on the cavedive.net forums a lot.
