Dump Valve Move

I am contemplating moving the dump valve on my neoprene drysuit. Right now it is located on the front of my arm, between my shoulder and my bicept. It works ok, but it is just close enough to my shoulder to make it impossible to see with my mask on. Because of this, I cannot tell if I am dumping air or not. I would like to move it about 6 inches further down my arm. If anyone has done this, or has a link to a good site that shows some picture and details on how this is done, could you please let me know. Thanks in advance.

You might check with the manufacturer and see what they recommend (if you haven't already). Maybe they could do a custom job for you.

Valve Move

OK, everyone I talks to tells me Im better off not moving the valve, and that I will get used to dumping the valve at the shoulder. Thanks for your input.

If your dive count is right then yes as you gain experience you will learn to dump and trust that it's working. Most drysuit exhaust valves are on the upper part of the arm not far from the shoulder, but I think I've never had issues seeing it on either the DUI's I've dove or the Viking suits. There could be some oddball suits out there where it is too high.

To move one would depend on the suit, you've essentially got a large hole to plug and then you cut another one. How you do it depends on the suit. Very similar to adding a P valve.

Looking at your profile I see you're diving the Andy's neoprene drysuit, I think I'd leave it be myself.

Yeah, I never worry about seeing it. I can feel and hear it dumping.
