DUI Dog Days

Hey all, don't know where you are located, but if you are lucky enough to be located within driving distance of ScubaToys you can join DUI for their DOG days rally in Terrell Texas at Clear Springs Scuba Park and try out their dry suits and eat lunch on Novemebr 17th and 18th. I'm gonna try to be there and hope to stop by ScuabToys and check it out on my way through from Oklahoma.

Haha, that was not the DUI I was thinking of when I read the title. Thanks for the info. It is a shame that I live so far away.

Does anyone knows if one needs to be a PADI certified p-valve user to get to try those suits?

Yes it is required unless one is a female and thus cannot use said p-valve

I knew I should have taken this specialty.... Now I'll need to use NASA pampers.

Went to ours in Aug. and it was fun! The tri-lam I tried had a boot leak but it was still fun to hang with other divers. Also loved the attatched gloves, toasty.

If you are under the age of 60 and are buying Depends, it might put you on a terrorist watch list, LOL!

I once told my dive buddy he had a better chance of seeing god than seeing me in a dry suit. I still believe if it is too cold for a wetsuit, it is too cold to dive . I have since rethought my position now considering something that another diver friend of ours said (something I never thought of). A drysuit doesn't require near the work to get into that wetsuits do.

DUI days are at Mermit Springs this weekend...of course I dove there last weekend . I have heard from a lot of local divers that DUI days are great, allowing you to try on a correctly fitted suit. Looks like I better get the specialty to participate next year.

I'll be frank with you, drysuit divers in the midwest probably have better diving than you've ever seen or will see if you continue to dive wetsuits. The best time of year for diving is in the Winter and you've missed out on a lot of fantastic diving.

It is a tradeoff when you consider suiting up. I think to some degree it's easier to get in a drysuit, but for some unknown reason I can get suited up faster in a wetsuit.

My main thing about drysuits is you finish the dive mostly dry, you may be a bit damp due to condenstation/sweat, but you'll be dryer than a wetsuit diver will be. The other benefit for me right now, I can't dive wet due to an injury to my thumb and I can dive dry. I can't risk the exposure to the dirty water in other words, not an issue diving dry.

For what it's worth I own two drysuits and I still attend the rally, in fact many of my buddies own their own suit and do the rally bit. We're certified drysuit divers and enjoy the company the rally provides. Go to it if you can.

Do you have to be drysuit certified in order to try one on the demo days?
