I hope next winter I'll be able to get one. Just finally got a dive computer, so one more big item off the list for now. Next big item has got to be a DS.

get a neoprene or crushed neoprene, i was in a trilam, wearing under armor cold gear, jeans, and a sweat shirt, and i was still cold. Of course i got a little wet, but even before that i was a bit cold. But on the same hand i'm pretty cold natured.

Cotton jeans and cotton sweatshirts are hardly the ideal undergarment... in fact, anything cotton is the worst possible undergarment. Cotton does not transport moisture when wet, and has zero insulating qualities when it's wet. Wool or quality synthetics are the way to go. Doesn't have to be special dedicated scuba undergarments, but cotton need not apply. Just get some good outdoors gear from an outdoor supply shop if that's more within your means... and remember, polartec and wool are your friends. Cotton is your enemy.

That's the spirit! ![]() Somewhere, somebody has a video of me in dry suit class doing an air dump drill for feet-first ascent. I wish I had a copy--funniest thing I'd ever seen underwater! ![]() |

Have fun Snagel, and to the other guy who thought a trilam was cold, that's one of it's greatest benefits. You can tailor the undergarments to suit the situation whereas the other neo drysuits have a little (not much) but a little less latitude when it comes to temperatures at which it's comfortable.
I thought in a pool myself that even went I went shirtless I still got way too hot. Maybe my pool was warmer, I think they keep it around 85 degree's or so.

CompuDude, thanks, i did not know that, and honestly i guess i shouldn't be making statements on what DS to get with my obvious lack of experience. I had my underarmor stuff on, but guess i should've just took the jeans and sweatshirt off.
Snagel good luck, hope you have better luck than I did, it's definately a new experience. Can't wait to hear how yours went

Few divers fall in love with a drysuit on the first few dives, many hate them so much they give it up and sell it on Ebay pretty fast. I've seen many descriptions of drysuits that say, like new, only had pool dives on them.
I think I stuck it out because I spent the money and by golly I'm going to learn to like it. After 3 dives I really started to like it, but the second dive I was pushing fate I think in that I hated the thing. Now I love it and for me it's easier to dive in a drysuit than it is a wetsuit.
