In fresh water I use 4 pounds or so and in salt I use 8 or 10, depending on my mood. I have been looking at changing to a simple backplate and wing (the 30# setup that ST is selling). Divers who dive with a backplate and wing swear by them and it would make the package much smaller. I would probably go with the aluminum plate, wing, and harness. Here are my questions: What benefits from a streamlined aspect will I gain? I don’t want to go to a weight belt, are there any good options? Is this change worthwhile considering its cost?
