Why are there no nativity scenes anywhere in Ohio?
They cannot find three wise men and/or a virgin.

How do you get a UofM grad off of your porch?
Pay for the Pizza.

I love it! the best rivalry in all of college ball!

Why Do People Take Risks, Especially Young Guys???

Browsing online and I noted two physical limitations as Humans I thought I would note: 1. The Frontal Lobe is believed to be still developing till about 20years of age and 2.Some alpha males have even higher than normal testosterone levels.

I enjoyed reading the information and overall imagine a herd of animals with young dispersed. The adults usually do the killing and providing in the herd. The teenagers must soon accept the Risks of deciding a spot in the adult herd. This may be a job, college to obtain a job, military, or as a professional. Failure to take this risk will be result in relying on the adult herd for support as medicaid/medicare/living with parents/ etc. etc. (receiving the left over from the kill). It is natural to take more risks in the late teen years...
Please add to the list as I want to know why we take Risks:

Most risks are taken when less than 25 years of age
1. The thrill and excitement of the adrenaline rush (Guys usually have experienced this feeling more often since a greater % play high school sports etc.)
2. Young want to prove themselves as being strong able capable adults and are willing to take the risks.
3. Young know they heal faster than adults (perceived invulnerable) and bounce back quicker from injury thus able to reasonably accept a higher risk of injury and they believe any injury will heal since they have time.
4. Young have fewer commitments and less of a feeling that they must live to support someone.
5. Young have fewer assets (physical assets @ home etc. & capital) and have less to lose vs. the potential Gains vs. older adults.
6. Young lack the age awareness of the fragility of the human body-and tragedy of death occurrences.
7. Defiance and Rebellion. They want more freedom, not just responsible behavior freedom eforced with rules.
8. For some: Not being risky might ensure zero reproductive success, adult position, etc. in the future.
9. Risk taking builds experience quickly. Beneficial for future jobs and avoidance of similar conditions
10. Peer review, "It's cool to do stupid things."
11. The challenge: doing this will move them higher on the pecking order and I can beat this guy.
12. Risks may not always be fully valued by the young, but most are aware of the rewards to acts of heroism = + favor from potential mates/ other people/ and future employers.
13. Some value other things more than their self: God, Country, Family, Friends, Other Humans and are willing to risk their life for these.
14. Some lack the understanding of the repercussions of the risks being taken (physical damage, financial loss, criminal prosecution, harming others, their own death, etc.).
15. Putting short term goals/desires in front of long term goals/desires.
16. Odds of getting caught/failure/injury are less than 50/50
17. Greed & Lust overcome reason.
18. Pure Stupid/Fearless: They don't believe bad things will happen to them because so far they haven't.
19. The young take risks to signal potential mates. Included due to many others saying this but I don't see it for me.

Some risks must be taken to move into the adult Herd...
Two other possible reasons to take Risks/Rewards: The knowledge that the Herd will support the weak and injured if they fail 1. Medicaid & future programs in the works 2. Low odds of criminal death sentences/prolonged incarceration/heinous body markings/ true full retribution of the action.

Some adult behaviors:
1. They want more excitement. They claim they need very new or very intense or both excitement. Sensation seekers not only lust after things - they take them, disregarding risks. Many politicians are go for everything guys. People who take a lot of risks.
2. Some claim alpha males have a higher level of testosterone thus increasing the above needs.
3. Some claim older bodies are tired a greater % of the time. Most risk taking behavior requires energy and vitality thus leading to less risk as adults.
4. Prior experiences with time to reflect upon.
5. We have already secured our adult status and don't want to lose what we have acquired.
6. We often have significant others and children etc. that count on us for support.

Getting insurance this week for one of the boys and I told the agent the Wreck video was good in putting the fear of death in being a safe driver. Unfortunately most guys think they are really good drivers since they can score a high score on the video games and only die like 4 times in 500 dangerous video attempts. They don't realize that on the real road....1 is the magical number to end the game of life.
To my surprise the agent said: "Guys actually have less wrecks than girls"..... The mind immediately churned as I know I pay more for the guys than my girls & I responded, I guess that means the ones they have are more expensive with average higher speeds, damages more severe, death more likely, with lawsuits & higher rates following. She said, Yes, the girls accidents are more frequent but usually fender binders due to distraction etc. with far less money lost.
I have not googled it yet to find insurance documentation; but it makes sense to me. I guess on a trip I'll tell the guy to drive instead of one of my girls since it's safer as long as I let him know "no horse play." and I'm in the car to make sure of it...

I'm looking to get some blood boiling, so let me know what you think.....lol...

Anyone out there own any of these tools?

I own a few of them...

Subject: Tooz
I think there is acutally a safety message in this.

DRILL PRESS
A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it.

WIRE WHEEL
Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, “Oh, sh –“
(yep, been there done that)

SKILL SAW
A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short.
( I got one of these)

PLIERS
Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters.
(some of these too)

BELT SANDER
An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs.

HACKSAW
One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle… It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes.

VISE GRIPS
Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.
(works everytime)

OXYACETYLENE TORCH
Used almost entirely for lighting various flammable objects in your shop on fire. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race…

TABLE SAW
A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity.

HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK
Used for lowering an automobile to the ground after you have installed your new brake shoes, trapping the jack handle firmly under the bumper.

BAND SAW
A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge.

TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST
A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect.
(oh ya)

PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER
Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads.
(of course)

STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER
A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws and butchering your palms.

PRY BAR
A tool used to crumple the metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50 cent part.

HOSE CUTTER
A tool used to make hoses too short.

HAMMER
Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent to the object we are trying to hit.
(always)

UTILITY KNIFE
Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on contents such as seats, vinyl records, liquids in plastic bottles, collector magazines, refund cheques, and rubber or plastic parts. Especially useful for slicing work clothes, but only while in use.

SON OF A B*TCH TOOL
Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling “Son of a b*tch” at the top of your lungs. It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need.
( I've got a box full of these)
