Bottom line: I disagree.
I agree with your disagreement.

Is this really a problem? Or is it just so annoying that when it does happen it sticks out in your mind?

I usually do a 'New Posts' every time I come onto the board. I haven't noticed an annoying amount of 'me-too' posts.
Then you haven't been paying attention. We get a swath every couple months, at least.

Attached is a sample of posting abuse IMO. Notice the date and last post user name. Most of those posts were months old and absolutely no relevant info was added.

I wouldn't be opposed to it if we just started by closing this thread.

I didn't review the posts of each, but I can definately see your point.

But in reality, how posts are counted towards "free gift cards" are up to Larry. If he want's to let stupidity go on like this... up to him.

My guess is that in the downward spiraling economy that he's happy to get any new customer and doesn't want to piss on any of their shoes.

But if it was my shop, I'd definately do something like make the post count towards gift cards only allow X amount of posts per day. I think he has rules in place for just "me too" or "I agree" posts that don't have any content but I don't know how hard he enforces that.

Add a new rule ... you can't have more posts than your dive count .... that would shut up a lot of posters ....

OH wait ... that would include me too!!

//Does this count as a "Me too" post???

It looks like emt took a look at a bunch of Scubavideo threads and made appropriate comments to a number of them. I don't see the problem (other than the leak in Scubajane's 1st stage). Even the "WTH!" seemed reasonable, not abusive.
