The person creating the thread should really lock the thread once the item sells, but that's not the person making the inquiry's fault if there is no indication what happened with the item.
There are far more egregious examples of people abusing the system and inflating their thread counts, IMO. For one, It would be great if new signups could be set to be unable to add comments onto posts that are 6 months old, just say "me too!" ... at least until they've been members for a little while. Larry and Joe seem to be pretty tolerant of these things, though, and it's their money, so... *shrug* Last edited by CompuDude : 05-13-2008 at 06:30 PM. |

Picture this scenario:
Username1 has posted a used P-38 Space Modulator for sale for $100. I want to buy it, but I don't want to pay more than $75, and so I wait to see if the seller drops his price. Then, someone who is trying to reach the 250 post mark, keeps posting "Is this item still available?" Not even "Is the P-38 still available?" And, when you look at their info, they have posted the same thing about other items that they have no interest in purchasing. It's got to be really annoying for the seller. Yes, it is very annoying. So I make the habit of writing in my post that the item is still available and that the thread will be updated when gone. I tend to get about 50% asking if it is still available and not actually interested in item. This also happens on Craigslist a lot when I am giving items away.
