Well folks, I enjoyed the last contest (Dive Portal DVDs on my birthday) I held so much, that I am doing it again!

No, no, I'm not having another birthday already. I am coming home on leave from Iraq. I just found out yesterday what my leave date is. So here's the contest. The day I get home and check out Scuba Toys, the last person to post at that time wins. Same rule as before..... post on any topic you like, engage in any discussion you want as long as it doesn't violate ST decency standards (are there any?). Although technically, it may be a day or two AFTER I actually get home. I got a lot of catching up to do (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean? Say no more!)

What am I giving away this time? Sadly, I don't have any more extra sets of the Dive Portal DVDs. However, I just got a copy of the PBS NOVA series called "Hitlers Lost Sub". I love this film. It is basically the book "Shadow Divers" in TV format. Lots of history of Submarines, U-boats, and search to discover the identity of the U-who. I was amazed to see footage from onboard the Seeker of the finds as they brought them up. Now, I won't give you my own copy of the show, but I will order a new one and have it sent to your address.

I realize that everyone else may not be a U-boat and tech diving nut like me, so there is an alternate prize. If you don't want the DVD, I will send you a SubaToys gift certificate worth $30.

are you allowed to say where you are stationed in Iraq? My wife is about to deploy for the first time and we are not sure what to expect...

yeah, that's nothing classified. I can give you generalities about life in Iraq, or if she is going to the Baghdad area, I can give you specifics. You can IM me if you don't want to publish the info for the world. I am currently at FOB Rusty, but I know she isn't coming here. This FOB is being shut down and returned to the Govt of Iraq.

But let's see you are coming home on leave so you have some time in Kuwait, plus the flight over. What day are you leaving from Baghdad to go to Kuwait??

You know, I have thought about that a lot, and I can't come up with an answer. There are a lot of great restaurants I love for certain foods:
Outback for a steak
Pearls for blackened catfish and gumbo
Johhny Carrinos for thier Italian nachos
Port Lugano (a local place in my hometown) for awesome tomato basil soup and fresh croisant sandwiches

But it will probably be something my wife makes. She is an excellent cook!

As for what I miss the most, it's my family. Sure I talk about diving non-stop over here, but being away from loved ones is what's really hard.
