Politically Correct Gear Names

Ok, let me preface this post by saying lets not turn this into a debate about political correctness. This is meant to be fun and if it turns ugly or starts getting into a debate about your views on political correctness I'll have to pull it. And lets keep it to SCUBA gear. I know there are a million and one things that you could put the PC tag on, but I want to keep it clean and fun. So lets be creative and have some fun with this one.

1. Weightbelt = Positive Bouyancy Offset Belt.
The term "weightbelt" could be offensive to those sensitive about being over weight.

2. Lead Weight = Negative Bouyancy Module.
The term "weight" could be offensive. See #1

3. Fins = Foot Mounted Manual Propulsion Devices
The term "Fin" could be offensive to animals born with fins as part of their natural anatomy.

4. Regulator 1st Stage = SUBA cylinder Mounted Regulator
We don't want to belittle the importance of the so called 2nd stage by placing it after the "1st stage".

5. Regulator 2nd Stage = Oral Air Delivery Regulator
See #4. No order of importance in the regulator system now.

Ok, that's all I could come up with off the top of my head. So what are some of your ideas. Remember this is in the Fun and Games section. So lets have fun. No debates about PC and lets keep it to Scuba gear.

I've always combined 4 & 5 to "The Breathy Thing with Tubes".

And 2 should just be "Sinkers".

#2 could also be "Reverse Bouyance Module" - Nobody wants to be negative.

#3 & 4 You can't use the word mounted as it may offend horses and professional street corner workers.

#5 is just offensive in itself.

;-)

Wetsuit-Warmth keeping wearable device

The term "wet-suit" may allude that you have spilled something on formal wear. Also wetsuit may be offensive to those against formal wear.

Mask = occulonasal protection device, since masks are associated with bankrobbers or people trying to hide something.

You can't use "Pony" or "Octo" as that bothers PETA. But there are already alternatives.

Hood - Implies criminal element. Better to say "Cranial Thermal Collector"

Divemaster = Underwater Trip Guide - can't say "master"
Certified Diver = Guaranteed Diver - "certified" offends the less then sane
Underwater Flash = Underwater Strobe - can't have those lights disrobing!
Whistle = air pressure sound using attention device - whistling is sexist
