Question Endless Ocean Game for Wii

I am wondering if anyone has gotten Endless Ocean for Nintendo Wii. My husband wants to get it and I was hoping to get some reviews from people that would actually know what they are talking about in regards to scuba. Thanks.

I bought it the night it came out This is NOOOOTTT a game everyone will enjoy, for one. Personally? I really like it, so long as you don't take it too seriously. The premise is that you are a diver and are helping a scientist conduct studies of the underwater life around an island. I have explored about 7 sites so far, you go down and pick out sealife and focus on it. You then have to poke, pet, or feed the sealife to find out what it is. Some sealife can become your "dive buddy" and follow you around. You will also have mini-missions where you have to lead someone on a dive and find certain creatures that they like. In doing so, you unlock more goodies (including dive gear, hehe!). You can also scavenge for treasure.

There is more, but that's most of what's covered in the book so I don't give too much away (not that there's much to spoil.. but!). The controls took me a minute to mess with, and I do have two complaints

A) you use the wiimote to turn, based on which way you point it at the screen. this is fine until you view a map or toolbar, because if you slack the wiimote.. your diver will twirl all around until you exit. this can throw you off or make you miss a fish!

B) you can upload your own music via SD card if you like, but it only plays one song from it, even though it shows a whole playlist you uploaded. This was a bummer as we had a nice ocean-themed list from Tony O'Connor. Ultimately, of course, this doesn't affect game play in any shape, way, or form

Just my .02

Actually sounds interesting. I don't know about the feeding/petting part, but I'd have a hard time believing anyone would glean proper ocean etiquette from playing this game

i think you may be experiencing user error! on some video game boards, people talk about what they listen to while they play (haven't read that you can only listen to one song). when i get it, i'll check out the mp3 functionality and let you know.

edit: upon further inspection, they tell me you can pick one mp3 per dive. sorry about that =)

considering you can dive forever and ever and do whatever you want without stopping, probably not..

If dives last more than 3 minutes, that could get pretty repetitive.

i played for about 10 minutes. i was instantly relaxed, it was weird! i heard the sound of the regulator and it dazed me. i'll spend more time with the game during the weekend and report back.
