What camera is Sea & Sea dx750g?

I'm still trying to justify the money for a dive camera (things are tight right now), and I just came across a sea & sea housing without the camera. I've read that most sea & sea cameras are actually Vivitar brand; does anyone know which vivitar model might fit this housing? The only Vivitar camera I found on google with similar specs looks different (#5199). Thanks.

if you don't get any luck here, you might also try scubaboards.com - I don't like the board much, but questions like that get asked and answered alot over there (though I just searched, and didn't find the question already asked for THAT particular camera)

If you ask camera manufacturers which cameras they are rebranding, they USUALLY won't tell you...but it's worth a call to their tech support...maybe you'll get lucky.

I think I remember reading somewhere that it was SeaLife that used Vivitar cameras, and Sea & Sea used Ricoh cameras. Maybe someone here can confirm or correct this.

I think if you search around, you might be able to find like a canon g10 and get a housing for that for a comparable price. Even though the sea sea brand may have a more form fitting and rugged underwater housing, I would guess that canon cameras are better.

The Sea & Sea 1G & 2G are Ricoh. I believe these were the only ones from Ricoh. The 750 is reaching pretty far back now, most likey you can get a newer system at a compairable price.

If you are interested in options give us an idea of what you have budgeted for a system.

That's right. I own a Sea & Sea, and its a Ricoh (with Korean instruction booklet!) while Sealife uses the Vivitar. Takes great pics, but a bit of lag between shots.

I think I saw a great S&S package for sale on ST with stay and strobe...

I've got the generation after the 750, the Sea&Sea DX860 and I believe it's made by Ricoh, not positive though. It's ok at best, I'm really not that thrilled with it. The biggest issue is the amount of lag it has makes it extremely difficult to take any pictures that are not in a very well lit environment. When I was in Roatan 3/4 of my pics came out very blurry because you have to hold the camera perfectly still for up to a few seconds at a time while waiting on the shutter. Here in the Great Lakes getting pictures can be much more difficult due to general murkiness. It's been ok as a starter camera but for the same amount of money I have friends who bought cameras that are more user friendly and don't have the lag I experience with mine. When they bring their cameras mine stays back on board. I understand the newer and the more expensive S&S models are much nicer and aren't plagued by the same issues.

I believe I saw that you have the S&S 1200HD. This is not a Ricoh camera.....

The 1200HD is a Egro DS 1200HD. Ergo DS 1200HD | Digital Cameras | ERGO | Продукция | Цифровые фотоаппараты, фотокамеры

I believe the 750G is manufactured by Egro as well. I am almost 100% sure that the DX1G & DX2G are the only Ricoh cameras marketed by S&S at this time.
