![]() Fujifilm has announced the Remora Slave Flash kit for underwater flash photography, which is compatible with its line-up of digital compact cameras and underwater housings. The kit consists of the Remora Flash unit with a guide number of 20 and a flash beam angle of 60 degrees, a flexible arm and a fibre-optic cable. It also includes a built- in mount to for a focus light to pre-focus under water. The kit is available for £229 from Fujifilm approved Dive stores. Press Release: Fujifilm Shines New Light on Underwater Imaging Range ![]() One of the biggest restrictions when shooting underwater is the limitation of light, which often results in disappointing photos that don't do the subject justice. This problem is now addressed thanks to the Remora's powerful flash with a guide number of 20. So, not only is it suited to daytime diving, but its performance is also essential during night dives when a good light source is even more critical to taking great pictures. Another key feature of new the Fujifilm Remora Flash is the wide angle flash beam angle of 60 degrees. This extra wide flash spread means a bigger area can be illuminated underwater to meet the needs of both macro and wide-angle photography. Many flash units give users very limited control over the amount of flash output, which can often cause over or underexposed shots. The Fujifilm Remora Flash features manual light output range of 10% to 100%, so the amount of flash can be fine tuned to achieve a correct exposure for the perfect shot. What's more, a short recycle time ensures quick responsiveness, even when using the maximum power output of 100%. For ease of use, the powerful flash unit is mounted on a flexible arm which can be quickly adjusted to just the right angle for any subject or situation. The reliability of the flash firing is enhanced by a fibre optic which feeds from the camera's flash to the Remora to guarantee the flash will go off at that vital moment. In addition the Remora Flash includes a built-in Y-S mount to fit a focus light, especially useful to help the camera pre-focus underwater before taking a photo. This also eliminates the need for additional flex arm, keeping the whole system perfectly simple. Fujifilm Remora Flash Kit contents:
