SEA&SEA DX-1G camera

Hi

I am new around here.. I do have a DX-1G and I am diving this week in Kona Hawaii. I have taken some shots with the rig and there are some issues with the unit that I still need to work out if I am to keep this camera or go back to my Ike D-70 rig.

There are two main problems that I have to work out. One is the missing LED trigger that was mentioned here and the second on is when shooting in the manual mode, the preview screen stops down to the shooting aperture right before the image is captured. That is almost too much lag to me and it is very unnerving coming from a DSLR.

Here are someshots from the camera.

That parrot shot is intense. How far away was that? Was that straight from the camera, or did you do any touch-up?

The Ricoh GX-100 that comes in the Sea&Sea DX-1G is some camera.. I was standing 3 ft from the bird. I would say I cropped it and did a Little 3 PS work.. Not much.. Contrast and a little levels.

Love the last shot of the nudie.... one of my faovrite critters to find and shoot. I've been thinking about upgrading from the 8000G to the 1G and have been reading through several other digital forums about the problems you're having. You might want to browse through some of the forums on wetpixel.com.... can't remember which one but there is a lot fo discussion going on about the 1G.

Here are a few test shots I took with the 1G.......

Photos are just the camera. I have 2-YS 27's and the W/A lens that I will be working with as well.

I am impressed so far. Controls are easy to access, full manual control and focus. It will be another month before I can get this set up in the water but I will post an update when I do..........

Arrow Test shots

Here's a couple more..... These were shot with 1 YS27 strobe. I will try to get this set up in the pool at ST in the next couple of days and see how it handles in the water.

Any questions, let me know........

(Guess I should have dusted this off first.......)(About 4" tall)

Looks to be a mighty fine camera. I really like the color and depth of field on the macros...not to mention the detail.

U/W test photo

Shot in the ST pool. Should have brought something to photograph, but here is a torpedo that was in the pool. Will go back next week with some toys....

So far I really like the camera, U/W case and strobes. Great control and easy access, slightly negative underwater but not cumbersome. Size and weight still make this set-up fairly easy to travel with.

I need to work with the strobes some because the coverage and power is more than what I was used to.

Any questions or certian type of picture anyone would like to see a test shot of? Remember this is only a pool so W/A scenic wouldn't be much good.......

Here is a cool one (If you like bugs or small stuff) One thing I have to admit, the macro ability with this camera is better that what I expected for a P&S....

Yellowjacket- Maybe 1"

Hi Devil diver

looks like you got some nice shots there. the dx1g was one camera i looked at but was unshure about a few issues the camera had ( lcd screen darknes when using manual mode ), it does look like a neat package though

it would be great to see a seris of shots taken with the camera taken on a dive , also that new close up ad on lense looks good , you can never have enough macro .

i used a dx300 for a few years, which was a housed ricoh 3.2mp camera , i was inpresed with the sharp optics and color produced .

Regards
Matt
