I understand their logic but I disagree with it. I know most divers DO dive with a computer (us included) but I don't think someone can begin to understand what is happening with your body when you dive (nitrogen loading wise) unless you actually understand the tables. For any new diver I strongly recommend that they PM Joe or Larry and get a key for their Table Tutor program. I think it is still free to forum members. I used that with my son and it really made a difference.

PADI requires doff and don both at the surface and underwater.

What exactly do you learn from a table about your body? All I ever learned was that I was letter group ABCDEF.....which is exactly the same as a computer saying 1-2-3-4-5 bars of residual nitrogen, at least to me.

FWIW No, I don't use a computer, but don't use tables either (I think rule of 130+Min Deco is more convenient so I can dive the same profile all 4 dives of the day)
