Wow that is a lot of info, thanks for posting it though, if one of these techniques don't work for you, maybe you should just quit!

thanks for taking the time to share all ths info i found it very useful. My only stuggle once in awhile is equalizing and that is usually after the first dive or on the second day. I always let my dive buddies know i may have and issue and take a little longer descending. i take 12 hour sudafed and use swimmers ear after each dive and have had success. I am a brand new diver so i am sure the more i dive the better i will get at equalizing.

This info really was informative for me. I had ear problems as a child and occasionally get the squeeze and have equalization problems. I know its been a while since you posted this, but thanks again.

Great info, I normally just have to swallow to clear my ears, just make sure you clear your ears at the start of your dive it seems to me the first 20ft are the most important cause if you can't clear your ears there it will only get worse the deeper you dive.

That is great info. My son has a hard time equalizing the first 10-20 feet and I know it irritates him to make me wait. I've told him a zillion times to just take his time-I'm there to dive with him and I'll wait as long as I have to. I guess the bad part is when we are diving with a group and the rest of them are heading off. I'm going to print this original post off and give it to him so we can try some of the other methods next time we dive together. Thanks!!

I loved reading that the Valsalva maneuver goes back to the 18th century! Who knew?

And that Valsalva was someone's name-I always just thought it was a latin term of some sort.
