How to affix Apollo Spring Straps?

Ok since we have this section now, I figure I'll toss a question out. I want spring straps for my Mares Plana Avanti Quattro fins. The XS spring straps look simple, but something tells me that the Apollo's are just a whee bit better. So, since they're a permanent installation, how exactly does one go about attaching them to the fins in question?

You will have to dremel (or another cutting method) off the post that your current straps attach to. You can then follow Apollo's guide to installing their permanent straps. Check out this PDF http://www.apollosportsusa.com/docum...stallation.pdf

good deal..thanks gooch. I just brushed through the directions but it basically looks like I shave the post and drill a couple of holes. Am I missing anything?

I felt an empty feeling in my stomach...

Attaching the straps to my Apollo Bios took about 1/2 hour. But be prepared... It is a bit nerve racking when you take the blade in hand to cut off that first post, knowing that there's no going back. It's either going to be a really great thing, or you're gonna have to get online to ScubaToys and order another pair of fins!

As long as you FULLY UNDERSTAND the instructions before you start, it goes pretty smooth. I used a drill just a tad bit smaller than the posts and applied a small amount of detergent to the posts before inserting them through the fins and it went together like clockwork.

Good Luck!

Or there is the easy way.... Put in box... put label on box. Hand to ups driver. Delivered to Scubatoys with note; "please put on some spring straps", Joey installs them, puts in box. Ricky makes ups label. Guy puts them on your door. You put them on your feet.

But the other way works too!

That would make me less of a, errr... well, I take enough crap from my father in law for not being handy enough with tools. Of course, he was a general contractor for 40+ years. Sending my gear away for others to fix for me might be too big a blow to my ego though. I'm gonna place my order for the Apollo's right now and if I screw up the install, I'll send the straps back for Joey to put on my next set of fins.

Thanks all!

Really, those defeat the whole purpose. Cheap plastic clip ends that will break... That would basically be putting on springs so people that don't know any better think you have springs. Go hard or go home!
