Mares Poppet Pin / V32 First Stage

having a slight issue with a Mares V32 first stage - there was a problem with it before which on examining the poppet pin was warped (and the seat slightly damaged/worn where it was warped). I've replaced the whole HP seat assembly and the pin - however the pin I was sent is half cm/1cm longer than the old one (old one is 3.1/3.2cm) which means the IP adjusting bolt sticks out a similar amount at the top.

Now I'm assured this new pin is the standard pin for all mares first stages except the MR12 (which uses a shorter pin), however the first stage is not ok - IP is little more eratic than normal, but more fundamentally pressure in HP chamber drops on inhalation.

Can anyone advise re the pin - does the above info sound correct? (And if so, why was the older pin shorter?). Since I've replaced the entire HP seat, I deduce that this is what's also causing the HP pressure drop.

Any advice would be helpful.

ps I know mares has released the new trimaterial upgrade kit for seat - left that alone for now
