Changing Lenses Mares X-Vision

How do you change the lenses, do they just pop out? Do I need anything special to do it?

i saw when you posted this... then i checked again... and nothing... then again, and you're talking about hammers...
just PM Larry a link to here and he'll chime in...

side note:
if you use a hammer, please have some duck tape around to seal the new lens in place.

I watched them change the lenses on my wife's x-vison.
Looked like Joey just removed the plastic ring that holds the lenses in.
Removed the lenses , then replaced the plastic thing-a-ma-bob.
Took him about 2 mins to replace both the lenses.

Yup... that's it. Push a thumb nail between the frame, and the plastic retaining ring. Then flex the retaining ring toward the center of the lens and lift slightly. There are little tabs on that retaining ring that fit into the frame. So flex it far enough to disengage them, then pop it up. Do that all around and the retaining ring comes off. Then just pop out the lenses. When you put in the others, push them down onto the skirt which acts as the seal, then snap the retaining ring back.

Or use the hammer.

Your choice!

Since I saw some other people complain about the frame breaking on the Mares X, I figured I'd report back. After removing both frames and lenses on my used and new mask the tab slot cracked when replacing the frame back on the new mask. When looking at the mask it was the bottom left slot on the right lens. It was a hairline crack with a tiny chunk coming out. Of course it wouldn't seal and water just leaked though. I told Larry what happened since bought it at ST about a month ago, but no luck. Unfortunately, Mares won't replace them even when ST does it changing lenses. So if you can avoid removing the frame, you're better off just incase. I don't feel like I forced it, I was trying to be very careful. Keep that in mind though.
