Knife Mount
I'm getting ready for a dive trip in the Atlantic. The charter requires two dive knives. I normally wear one on my inflator hose and have a Zeagle line cutter on my BC strap. (The Zeagle doesn't count as a knife.)
I don't like the calf mount because I have to cut off blood circulation on the surface to keep the sheath snug on my 7mm wetsuit at 100 feet. My Zeagle N2ition has a cool bungee mount that keeps it snug no matter what the depth. Is there a bungee mount for knives? Any other options besides the rubber band mount on the calf? |

I cant see why a bungee wouldn't work, I have seen guys do this before. I would suggest you double up the bungee and use individual loops not continuous so if by chance one breaks it won't unthread causing your knife to fall off. Mounting to the back of the spg is another good idea as well as hose mounting. Just a suggestion

I can't find it anywhere online, but I bought some knife straps at my LDS that were velcro, and the buckle is "springy" so it doesn't loosen up too much while you dive. It works really well, but unfortunately I don't have the brand name or anything right now. I'll look when I get home.

Another suggestion is to buy compression straps and put a knife on your thigh. I'm sure ST sells them in different lengths.
Many ways to carry knives and everyone has their own preference. The picture below is my way and it works for me. cheers EDIT: straps may be called depth Compensating rubber strap by some ![]() Last edited by JCAT : 01-03-2009 at 09:30 AM. Reason: clarity |

I run a Zeagle knife/shear combo on my right shoulder and wear another on my left lower side of my bcd at hip level, that way I have access at both sides in the event I would need them.I run the same setup on my gear for the Dive Team, hate anything on my legs personally.
